I was just wondering if you all have followed the coverage of the healthcare reform that is going on here in the U.S. Do you have any thoughts or opinions on the reform or the mixed American response to it?

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how to answer this question. I followed this issue as many of my friends. Though it's hard to comment it because it's hard to imagine being in such a situation. As you must know in France the idea of paying for everyone is part of our culture.
I always thought that the American Health care system was deeply unfair. I have trouble understanding how such a big and developed country could let so many people without insurance. And worse, let people die because they don't have one.
So when I heard that Obama wanted to change that I first thought it was great and really necessary.
Then I heard about the complaints and I understood them. I just thought, as a French girl I guess, that if we ask people what they want, they would never go for it. So I thought the gvt should just impose the reform and let people complain about it. It's usually the way we do it.
I was happy the bill finally passed but I was sorry it was changed that much. I think the original proposal from Obama was better.
